Mohawk and HERE, The Cooper Carry Magazine
It’s not often that a work of art disguised as a magazine falls on my desk, but the HERE magazine published by Cooper Carry is definitely an amazing piece of work.
Cooper Carry is an architecture, engineering and urban design firm producing some beautiful buildings and urban spaces. For three years - and, I hope, ongoing - the company has published HERE magazine.
Following is a short email exchange with Laura Shore, Senior Vice President, Communications, Mohawk Fine Papers, talking about Mohawk’s involvement in producing this beautiful statement on energy and power.
WTT: HERE, The Cooper Carry Magazine is a beautifully produced publication! How did Mohawk become involved in the process?
LS: The designer, Matt Rollins, of Iconologic brought it to my attention through the AIGA Center for Sustainable Design.
WTT: Did the content of the magazine have any special “resonance” with your environmental policies?
LS: Absolutely! Since getting involved with wind power and carbon neutral papers, we’re obsessed with energy issues here at Mohawk. I read everything that comes across my desk on the subject. The articles within the book were so interesting and the design was so compelling that I read the PDFs end to end as soon as they came through my e-mail. Every once in awhile a project crosses my desk and I know that it absolutely has to end up on our paper. This was one of those projects given the caliber of design, quality and type of content.
